This Media RSL course is a Level 3 Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media (equivalent to one A-Level) is designed to prepare learners for employment and further learning the media sector and arm them with the knowledge and skills to successfully navigate this exciting and ever-evolving industry.
Learners will develop their understanding and analysis of key media concepts including media types, processes, institutions, genre, representation and audiences before completing 6 production units against a design brief for a media ‘client’.

In the unit CDM 355 - Pre-production in creative digital media, the learners will be able to: Undertake effective pre-production on a digital media project.
In the unit CDM 334 - Creating a digital image portfolio, the learners will be able to: Apply knowledge and understanding of digital photography and its uses across the digital media sector to create a digital image portfolio for a specified digital media destination.
In the unit CDM 301 - Producing a digital media product or service, learners will be able to: Plan for and undertake the production of a digital media product or service in response to a brief.
In the unit CDM 328 - Marketing a digital media product or service, learners will be able to: Apply knowledge and understanding of the role of marketing and marketing processes across the digital media industry.
In the unit CDM 337 - Starting an online business, learners will be able to: Plan and set up an online business.
In the unit CDM 339 - Writing for creative digital media, learners will be able to: Apply knowledge and understanding of writing for a range of digital media audiences and destinations to the creation of copy for specified creative digital media destinations.
The 6 units are assessed internally assess against the RSL assessment criteria.
By the end of Key Stage 5, learners will have a solid understanding in how to create media items against a brief over a range of mediums, they will be able to explain and analyse media items and their own processes, as well as having experience and knowledge of how industry standard processes run.
Learners who achieve at Level 3 across their Key Stage 5 learning might consider progression to:
• An undergraduate degree in the media, marketing or business sectors.
• An apprenticeship in the media sector.
