School Admissions Process

At Connie Rothman School, we understand that finding the right school placement can be a complex and emotional journey, particularly for families seeking the best support for a child with unique learning needs. We recognize how overwhelming the admissions process can sometimes feel, particularly when navigating the admissions criteria. Our team is dedicated to making this process as smooth, respectful, and transparent as possible, including a thorough SENCO review to ensure we meet your child's individual requirements.

We welcome all enquiries and will collaborate closely with you and your local authority to help determine the best placement for your child.

Admissions Criteria

Students aged between 11-21 (we also accept students in years 5 & 6 who are aiming to start in year 7) are eligible for admission if they have an EHCP or are currently undergoing an assessment for one. For more information on our admissions criteria, please see our Admissions Policy or contact the SENCO for a review.

Our Step-by-Step Admissions Process

Step 1 – Get in Touch

For inquiries regarding the admissions criteria at the Connie Rothman School, please contact us by calling 01202 122922 or by emailing admissions@crlt.org.uk. Additionally, you can reach out for a SENCO review if needed.

Step 2 – Initial Consultation

We’ll arrange a call to learn more about your child’s needs in relation to our admissions criteria. During this conversation, we may also request copies of any existing professional assessments, which will be useful for the SENCO review at Connie Rothman School.

Step 3 – SENCO Review and School Tour

At Connie Rothman School, we understand that finding the right school placement can be a complex and emotional journey, particularly for families seeking the best support for a child with unique learning needs. We recognize how overwhelming the admissions process can sometimes feel, particularly when navigating the admissions criteria. Our team is dedicated to making this process as smooth, respectful, and transparent as possible, including a thorough SENCO review to ensure we meet your child's individual requirements.

We welcome all enquiries and will collaborate closely with you and your local authority to help determine the best placement for your child.

Step 4 – Local Authority Consultation

Students aged between 11-21 (we also accept students in years 5 & 6 who are aiming to start in year 7) are eligible for admission if they have an EHCP or are currently undergoing an assessment for one. For more information on our admissions criteria, please see our Admissions Policy or contact the SENCO for a review.

Step 5 – Trial Day

Your child will be invited for a 1 Day Trial at Connie Rothman School, where they’ll be welcomed to experience a typical day, all while we assess the admissions criteria during the SENCO review.

Step 6 – Review Meeting

After the trial at Connie Rothman School, two members of the admissions team will meet with you and your child to discuss the trial day, review the EHCP, and conduct a SENCO review to explore the next steps in relation to the admissions criteria.

Step 7 – Additional Trial Days (if required)

Further trial days may be arranged to ensure we meet the admissions criteria, confirming that the Connie Rothman School is the right fit for your child, especially following a SENCO review.

Step 8 – Placement Offer

If successful, we will send a formal placement offer to the relevant local authority after a thorough assessment of the admissions criteria and a review by the SENCO at Connie Rothman School.
