The Media RSL course in Creative Digital Media is designed to prepare learners for their entry into the media sector and arm them with the knowledge and skills to successfully navigate this exciting and ever-evolving industry.
Learners will be introduced to key media concepts including media types, processes, institutions, genre, representation and audiences before completing two production units against a design brief for a media ‘client’.
In the unit ‘Creating and publishing digital content’ unit the learners will be able to: Use a range of current content creation tools to create and publish digital content to fulfil a specific purpose.
In the unit ‘Creating a social media campaign’ unit the learners will be able to: Create a social media campaign to promote an identified product, service or event to a specified audience.
Media RSL is assessed across two internally assess units against the RSL assessment criteria:
By the end of Key Stage 4, learning will have gained understanding in how to create media items against a brief and have experience and knowledge of how the media sector runs and employment options in the sector.
Learners who achieve at Level 2 across their Key Stage 4 learning might consider progression to:
• Progress to a Level 3 course in a creative media subject.
• Progress to an apprenticeship in the media sector.
